Joe Turner’s Come and Gone is the second in August Wilson’s Pittsburgh Cycle, a series of ten plays chronicling the African-American experience over the 20th Century.
Set in 1911, the play tells the story of Herald Loomis, an African-American man recently released from a seven year stint in plantation owner Joe Turner’s slave gang, as he travels across Pittsburgh, searching for his long-lost wife, Bertha.
Adjoa plays Bertha in the production.
