Alethea Black was born in Boston and graduated from Harvard College in 1991. Her first short story was published in 2007, and since then her work has won the Arts & Letters Prize, has been cited as distinguished in The Best American Short Stories, and has appeared in nearly a dozen literary magazines, including The Kenyon Review, The Antioch Review, and Narrative. Her stories have been read aloud at venues ranging from the Ensemble Studio Theatre to The Players Club.
Her debut collection of short stories, I Knew You'd Be Lovely is forthcoming from Broadway Books in summer 2011. She lives in Dutchess County, NY.
