Alex Winckler

Alex studied film at Columbia University, New York. His graduation film, Ralph, was awarded UK Film Council Completion Funding and premiered at the Edinburgh International Film Festival. Ralph was nominated for a BAFTA for Best Short Film in 2009  and was shown at the London, New York, Sao Paulo and New Orleans Film Festivals.

In 2009 Alex completed his half-hour original film, Harvest, written by Richard Bean for Channel 4's Coming Up Strand. In the same year, Alex was picked by Screen International as one of their Stars of Tomorrow.

Alex has directed four blocks of Hollyoaks and completed a new short film, Thomas which he wrote as well as directed. In early 2011 Alex directed a short film for the Royal Court and Archers Mark called Royal Court Gala starring Stephen Mangan, Simon Shepherd and Indira Varma. He also has a feature film in development with BBC Films.
