Anton Du Beke is one of the UK's most instantly recognisable professional male Ballroom dancers today. Having become interested in dance at the age of 14 he went on to pursue an amateur dancing career when he left school before turning professional, collecting a number of worldwide and British awards and titles and becoming a leading name on that circuit.
But it was in his capacity as a professional dancer on BBC1’s hit show Strictly Come Dancing that he first came to the public’s attention, and having performed in each series since its beginning nine years ago he is very much part of that institution now – a programme that over the years has become one of the nation’s favourites, regularly attracting record viewing figures. His on-screen celebrity partner relationships have been legendary and included Lesley Garrett, Esther Rantzen, Laila Rouass, Patsy Palmer and, unforgettably, Ann Widdecombe and Nancy Dell’Olio.
Anton continues to train and give workshops and performs in live shows across the world. His annual nationwide tours with his professional dance partner of fifteen years and fellow Strictly star Erin Boag are sell-outs. But while Ballroom is central to his being, he also undertakes a diverse range of television presenting, and has been seen either hosting or guesting on a number of popular light entertainment television series.
In 2007 he published his first book, Anton’s Dance Class, an illustrated step-by-step guide to the ten Ballroom dances with an accompanying DVD, with Kyle Cathie. And in 2011, he was awarded Rear of the Year.
