Barnaby Phillips has been a journalist and broadcaster ever since he left university, more than 20 years ago. He has spent most of his career in Africa, working for the BBC, including stints as Nigeria and Southern Africa Correspondent. He was a regular on flagship BBC programmes such as From Our Own Correspondent, The Today Programme and Newsnight.

In 2006 Barnaby joined Al Jazeera English (AJE), and was based in Greece for four years. Now back in his native London, Barnaby is a Senior Correspondent for AJE, and travels all over the world, reporting on elections, economic crises, coups and much more.

Barnaby has written for many publications, including The Economist, The Financial Times and The Daily Telegraph. In 2011 his documentary, The Burma Boy, telling the story of the African soldiers who fought in Burma in the Second World War, received popular and critical acclaim.
