Richard Girling's new book Greed: Why We Can't Help Ourselves is published by Doubleday. Among his previous are Rubbish!, an exploration of the history, politics and economics of waste, and Sea Change (Eden Project Books), a critical examination of Britain's relationship with the sea. Richard is also senior feature writer for the Sunday Times Magazine.
Richard was named Specialist Writer of the Year in the UK Press Awards in 2002 and shortlisted for the same award in 2005 and 2006. He has been a consultant to the former Department of the Environment and the Department of Culture, Media and Sport, and author of campaigns for the Campaign to Protect Rural England (CPRE). He is currently the trustee of the Tree Council.
Richard lives and works in North Norfolk.
