Daniel's first book, Lost Cosmonaut, was published in 2006 by Faber in UK and Scribner in the US and was a Radio 4 Book of the Week.
Daniel is an anti-tourist and has spent the last few years living in Russia and travelling to countries that most people in Britain don't even know exist. He loves these places because no one else does, because everyone else passes them by. Strange Telescopes is his second book, in which he sets out to understand four extraordinary men who have created their own realities. It was published by Faber in the UK in 2008 and by Overlook in the US in 2009. He is currently working on The Apocalypse Handbook: A Guide to the Ends of the World.
