Sam Baker was born in Hampshire and studied politics at Birmingham University. She went on to work as a writer and editor on numerous women's magazines including Red, New Woman, Chat and Take A Break. Sam relaunched the seminal teenage magazine Just Seventeen as J-17, before spending five years as editor of Company. Sam is currently the editor of Red magazine and lives in Winchester and London.

Fashion Victim (2005) and  This Year's Model (2008), were both published by Orion. Her latest novel, The Stepmothers' Support Group, is published by HarperCollins in 2009.
