Sam Bourne is a pseudonym for Jonathan Freedland, an award-winning journalist and broadcaster. He writes for The Guardian and the London Evening Standard and has a monthly column in the Jewish Chronicle. He also presents BBC radio 4's contemporary history series, The Long View. In the annual What the Papers Say Awards of 2002, Jonathan Freedland was named Columnist of the Year and in 2008 he was awarded the David Watt prize for journalism. He lives in London with his wife and their two children.

The Righteous Men, Sam Bourne's first novel, was published by HarperCollins in 2006. It was an international bestseller and was one of Richard and Judy's Summer Reads. He continued this success with The Last Testament (2007) and The Final Reckoning (2008), both of which were in the top ten of The Sunday Times' bestsellers list.
