Barney Hoskyns is the author of acclaimed books on music, society and popular culture. He was a contributing editor at Vogue and US correspondent for MOJO before co-founding the online library Rock's Backpages in 2000. Over the years he has written for NME, Rolling Stone, GQ, Harper's Bazaar, Interview, The Times, The Observer, and Uncut.

His books include Beneath the Diamond Sky (1997), Ragged Glories: City Lights, Country Funk, American Music (2003), Hotel California: Singer-songwriters and Cocaine Cowboys in the L.A. Canyons 1967-1976 and Led Zeppelin IV (Rock of Ages) (2007 b).

His biography of Tom Waits, Lowside of the Road, is published by Faber (2009).
