On 1 April 2008, we began a co-agenting relationship with ICM Books, a UK division of the talent and literary agency International Creative Management, to handle sales of UK and foreign publishing rights for ICM-represented authors.
Jonny Geller, managing director of our Books department, said, ‘This is a very exciting development for Curtis Brown. This co-agenting relationship recognizes today's changing publishing reality in which agencies must react fast and effectively on behalf of their authors and be open to the huge challenges in expanding markets abroad. We are confident that this alliance with ICM will bring great benefits to all authors under our roof in both the UK and translation markets over the coming years.'
'Given the dynamic changes in today's literary marketplace, this is a perfect time to partner with such a well-respected agency as Curtis Brown,' commented Amanda Urban, Executive Vice President of ICM. ‘This alliance will allow us to leverage the strengths of both companies and together expand our core business as well as penetrate emerging global markets. The scale and expertise of our literary agents will be a tremendous benefit to all our clients.'
ICM, and in turn, ICM Books, represent a wide range of writers, including the authors of bestselling fiction, self-help, and non-fiction books as well as journalists who write for prominent newspapers and magazines. The agency represents recipients of the Nobel Prize, Pulitzer Prize, National Book Award and many other prestigious literary honors. Among ICM's clients are acclaimed and popular authors such as Patricia Cornwell, Thomas L. Friedman, Toni Morrison, Richard Ford, Cormac McCarthy, William Boyd, Haruki Murakami, Zoe Heller, Carl Hiaasen, Anthony Swofford, Linda Fairstein, John Feinstein and Steve Martin.
