NewsAtwood imparts her golden rules for writing
Feb 24, 2010
Margaret Atwood has revealed some of the rules she follows in her writing practice. In an interview with the Guardian, the contemporary author listed writing in pencil on aeroplanes, holding the reader's attention and doing back exercises as among the golden rules she abides by.
The author behind books such as The Handmaiden's Tale and The Year of the Flood also advised writers to use a thesaurus, a grammar book and a ‘grip on reality' when putting pen to paper, as well as letting friends read the material before submitting it to anyone in the publishing industry.
