Bristol Encounters

November 16, 2011

The 17th International Bristol Encounters Festival runs from 16th to the 20th November showcasing the best in short and animated filmmaking from around the world.

Mustapha Kseibati is premiering his new short Painkiller, starring Benedict Wong, at the BBC Writersroom & B3 Media 2011 Cineast Slate on Friday 18th at 12.30pm at the Watershed 3. The short is a darkly humourous story of a robber who comes face to face with a man with nothing to lose.

Rob Sorrenti's short Hollow, which won best short on the Youth Jury Award at Rhode Island Film Festival, will also be shown as part of the 'Out of Step' shorts programme on Wednesday 16th at 7pm and Friday 18th at 10am at the Watershed 3.

All That Way For Love, written by Thomas Martin and directed by Henry Mason, will also be screening on Thursday 17th at 3pm and Saturday 19th at 10:30am. The film has already premiered at LA Shorts in July this year and the Rhode Island International Film Festival in August. At Rhode Island, lead actor Andrew Simpson was awarded Grand Prize Best Male Actor, beating off strong competition from the likes of John Hurt, Colin Firth and Stephen Fry.
