Bryony Hannah stars in BBC1's new Sunday night drama
Call the Midwife. Based on the best-selling memoirs of the late Jennifer Worth, the new six part series is a true-to-life look at the colourful stories of midwifery and families in East London in the Fifties.
Bryony plays series regular Cynthia Miller, a young and impressionable nurse living in a convent. We follow her friendships and fallings out with colleagues as well as her extraordinary encounters as the midwifes are drawn into the lives and homes of the women and families they treat.
Ben Stephenson, Controller of
Drama Commissioning at BBC, said: "This superb cast of some of our best established and new actresses will bring to life the extraordinary true stories and friendships of midwifery and family in 1950s East End London.”
Sarah Counsell also features playing guest lead Elsie, a fisherwoman who is a regular visitor to the antenatal clinic and has to abandon a fishing trip when she goes into labour.
Call The Midwife starts on BBC 1 on Sunday 15th January at 8:00pm.
