Benedict Carey is an award-winning science reporter who has been at the New York Times since 2004, the most-emailed reporter during that time. He graduated from the University of Colorado with a degree in maths and from Northwestern University with a master’s in journalism and has written about health and science for 25 years, in magazines and newspapers.
He has written two novels for young adults, both science adventure stories: The Unknowns: A Math Mystery (2009, now titled Island of the Unknowns in paperback) won the Battle of the Books contest in North Carolina and was put on Texas’s Lone Store Reading List for middle schoolers; and Poison Most Vial, a forensic toxicology mystery published in April 2012.
