Written on the Heart
Role Young Launcelot
David Edgar’s play started life at the Swan Theatre in Stratford Upon Avon, before transferring to the Duchess Theatre in London’s West End in Spring 2012.
It tells the story behind the King James Bible’s inception 400 years previously through two separate narratives 80 years apart. In one, Tyndale smuggles his translation out of a Flanders prison. In another, we see the tensions beneath the Protestant Reformation.
Jamie played the young Lancelot Andrewes, bishop and scholar who oversaw the collaborative translation of the King James Bible.
