Peter Brookes is an award-winning cartoonist and political illustrator, and has worked for The Times, The Spectator, The Radio Times, The TLS and Marie Claire among others.

Born in Liverpool in 1943, he was educated at Manchester College of Art and the Central School of Art, London, later lecturing at the Central School and Royal College of Art.

As well as producing cartoons for magazines and newspapers, Peter has created illustrations for The Folio Society and Glyndebourne Opera, and has designed covers for Penguin Books.

Peter was voted Press Awards Cartoonist of the Year 2002, 2005, 2007, 2010, 2011, 2012 and 2015, What the Papers Say cartoonist of the year 2005, and the Political Cartoon Society's cartoonist of the year 2006 and 2009. He is a four-time winner of a Cartoon Art Trust Award, and has won three Designers and Art Directors Silver Awards. His latest book Testing Times is published by the Robson Press (September 2015).
