Cush Jumbo serves up a delight at Fred’s Diner
August 16, 2012
Cush Jumbo stars in Penelope Skinner’s new play Fred’s Diner, at the Chichester Festival Theatre.
The darkly comic thriller is set in Fred’s American Diner on a busy English motorway, where people dream of better lives over their runny eggs and mugs of luke-warm tea.
Fred’s friendly waitress Melissa (played by Cush) will greet you with a smile – but scratch the surface and you'll discover a dark secret hidden beneath.
Cush was awarded the prestigious Ian Charleson Award in May this year for her performance as Rosalind in As You Like It at the Royal Exchange Theatre, Manchester. She joins Chichester, fresh from playing a lead role in She Stoops to Conquer at The National Theatre.
Fred’s Diner runs until the 2 September 2012 as part of Chichester’s Theatre On The Fly season, championing exciting new playwrights in order to celebrate the theatre’s 50th anniversary.
