David Wolstencroft

David Wolstencroft is an award winning screenwriter and author who was born in Hawaii, schooled in Edinburgh and went to university in Cambridge where he studied History. He was also a regular writer and performer in the acclaimed Footlights Dramatic Club.

David’s first original television work was creating and writing the BAFTA-nominated series Psychos for which he also received the Royal Television Society's Best Newcomer Award. Subsequently, he created and wrote BAFTA-winning espionage drama Spooks which aired its final episode on BBC One in October 2011 and continues to be a critical and commercial success around the world.

He has written two novels: Good News, Bad News, which featured as a Richard and Judy Summer Book Club pick; and Contact Zero, which was nominated for a Crime Writers' Assocation Silver Dagger Award. Both books are published by Hodder in the UK and Penguin in the US.

David’s first feature script Shooting Dogs was directed by Michael Caton Jones starring John Hurt and Hugh Dancy. This highly acclaimed film was a powerful drama set during the 1994 Rwandan massacre and was the Grand Prize Winner at the Heartland International Film Festival. It was released in the USA under the title Beyond The Gates.
