Dermot Bolger is a writer for stage and screen, as well as a successful
poet and author with nine novels to his name.
His play, Lament for Arthur Cleary, won both the Samuel Beckett Award for Best First Play Staged in Britain and the BBC Stewart Parker Award. He went on to win the Irish Times/ESB Prize for Best New Irish Play in 2004 for From These Green Heights. The play was the first in a trilogy, the third part of which, The Consequences of Lightning, opened in 2008.
Dermot also writes screenplays and has adapted two of his own novels,
A Second Life and
The Journey Home, for the big screen.
