Edinburgh International Book Festival

Guy Bass, Heather Brooke, Jennifer Egan, Charlie Fletcher, Jane HarrisHari Kunzru, David Lodge, Nicholas Shaxson, Raja Shehadeh, Ed Stourton, Salley Vickers, Declan Walsh and Tobias Wolff are among the authors appearing at the Edinburgh International Book Festival, which starts tomorrow 13 August. The Edinburgh International Book Festival runs from 13 – 29 August and is noted for its series of high profile debates and discussions.

Novelists Jennifer Egan, Jane Harris, Hari Kunzru, David Lodge and Salley Vickers will be discussing their most recently published books over the coming weeks at venues including the festival’s home at the beautiful Charlotte Street Gardens in the centre of the city.

Investigative journalist Heather Brooke will be discussing her book The Revolution Will Be Digitised as well as joining in The Future is Online Guardian Debate with Time Berners-Lee. Declan Walsh will be discussing political realities with Allan Little and Kamlia Shamsie. Raja Shehadeh will join Robert Macfarlane to talk about their walks through the Palestinian territories. Nicholas Shaxson will join in a debate on why the rich are getting richer with Stephen Armstrong.

Ed Stourton will discuss his dog walking diaries and Tobias Wolff will also appear at the festival to discuss his memoirs and short stories.The festival’s well regarded Children’s Programme will feature Guy Bass and Charlie Fletcher at separate events. The winner of this year’s James Tait Black Prize will be announced at the festival at an event on 19 August. The shortlist includes David Mitchell for his novel The Thousand Autumns of Jacob de Zoet.
