Edward Dick studied English at Oxford before training as an assistant director with renowned theatre company Cheek by Jowl.
One of the country's most exciting young directors, he has directed productions in theatres across the UK and abroad. Recent work includes The Fastest Clock in the Universe at Hampstead Theatre; A Midsummer Night's Dream for Sydney Theatre Company; Twelfth Night at the Open Air Theatre, Regent's Park; Much Ado About Nothing in Singapore; and a hugely successful tour of Romeo and Juliet for Shakespeare's Globe.
Well known for his work with actors, Ed was behind the critically acclaimed production of 'Tis Pity She's A Whore at the Southwark Playhouse in 2005, in which Mariah Gale's performance as Annabella won the Ian Charleson Award, the Critics Circle Most Promising Newcomer Award and the Time Out Theatre Performance of the Year Award.
His work in opera includes The Rape of Lucretia (Aldeburgh), Elektra (Opera de Nice), The Turn of the Screw (King's Head) and the world premiere of Tarik O'Regan's opera Heart of Darkness at the Royal Opera House.
Ed's short film, An Act of Love, written by Ash Ditta and starring Stephen Mangan, Gina McKee and Raquel Cassidy, premiered at the Edinburgh Film Festival in 2010 and has played at festivals around the word. He has several feature film projects in development.
