★ Winner Fringe First Award
Bedlam Theatre, Edinburgh, 2008 Director Ella Hickson Writer Ella Hickson Starring Alice Bonifacio, Simon Ginty, Holly McLay, Ishbel McFarlane & Solomon Mousley

Eight opened to critical acclaim at the Edinburgh festival and enjoyed a sell-out run. It went on to win three of the top prizes at the festival.

Formed around the results of a survey that revealed that the defining feature of this generation is believed to apathy, Ella tries to tackle the negative reputation her generation has earned.

A series of monologues, Eight, offers the audience to choose which four will  be performed each evening, thus meaning that the show is constantly evolving.

Winner Carol Tambor Best of Edinburgh Award and The NSDF Emerging Artist Award.

one of the most self-assured, startlingly well-written and moving pieces of theatre around

Neil Cooper The Herald

you're blown away ... a truly impressive and exciting hour of theatre; and Ella Hickson is clearly a huge writing talent

Joyce McMillan The Scotsman

Ella Hickson – remember the name, for I suspect we will be hearing a lot more of her ... The writing is crisp and sharply observed, and Hickson's ability to catch the minds, hearts, thought processes and different speech styles of her characters is remarkable in so young a writer

Charles Spencer The Telegraph

already a fully fledged satirist of real power and insight, at her most effective when adding her terrific sense of comedy to the mix ... Eight is a piece that both delivers and suggests enormous promise. It thoroughly deserves its West End airing

Christopher Hart The Sunday Times

Ms. Hickson has already found her voice - and it's a powerful one

Rachel Saltz The New York Times
