Francesca graduated with an MA in Screenwriting from the National Film and
Television School in March 2011. Her animation short, Abuelas, about the
Grandmothers of the Plaza de Mayo, was recently shown as part of a
Human Rights Film Night at the Tricycle Theatre and is currently doing
well on the festival circuit. Awards include Best Film
at the London International Animation Festival, the Golden Mikeldi for
Animation at the Bilbao International Festival, and the Arte Short Film
Award at the Munich International Festival. Abuelas is also nominated for a BAFTA for Best Short Animation.
She is currently working in the Writers’ Room for a new BBC/Kudos/HBO
spy-show, Nemesis, writing online content for the Nemesis transmedia
project, and finishing Melisande, a feature script set backstage at a
Parisian Opera House.
Francesca is also on the Creative Board of Reuben Feels, an Immersive
Theatre Group. She has written two short comedy plays, Change and Round
Robin, and is keen to write for the theatre again.
