Biography

Francis Beeding is the pseudonym for the writers Hilary St. George Saunders (1898–1951) and John Palmer (1885–1944), who collaboratively wrote dozens of novels throughout the 1920s and '30s, and into the 1940s. Francis Beeding has over thirty novels to his credit, five of which have been adapted into feature films.

During the Second World War, Saunders and Palmer turned their attention from mystery novels to cloak-and-dagger stories involving British efforts to combat the Nazis.  After Palmer died in 1944, Saunders continued to write, publishing several more books about the war before retiring in 1950.
