Gareth Malone and the Military Wives shortlisted for Brit Award

Gareth Malone and the Military Wives choir have been shortlisted in this year’s Brit Awards line up, with a nomination for Best British Single.

From its beginnings on the BBC2 series The Choir: Military Wives, the charity single 'Wherever You Are' enjoyed record breaking success following its release in December 2011- selling 556,000 copies in just over a week, which made it the fastest-selling single since 2008 - and went on to hit the much coveted Christmas number one spot. Gareth and the Military Wives now find 'Wherever You Are' up against songs by Adele and Ed Sheeran in the running for the title of Best British Single.

Winners will be announced at the 2012 Brit Awards Ceremony at London’s O2 Arena, on February 21. To see a full list of nominees see the official Brit Awards website.
