Gareth Malone honoured with an OBE

Adding to what has already been an exceptional 18 months for
Gareth Malone, the Queen has given him an OBE in her birthday honours list.
Since
topping the Christmas chart at the end of 2011 with ‘Wherever You Are’, the hit single that came out of
The Choir: Military Wives, Gareth and the Military Wives Choir have had a
number one album, the series has won an
Broadcast Press Guild Award, Gareth has won an
RTS Award for Best Presenter, and worked with Gary Barlow and Andrew Lloyd Webber to produce the
official Diamond Jubilee single ‘Sing’.
Gareth was made an Officer of the British Empire in honour of his services to music, appearing in the Queen’s 2012 birthday honours list alongside the likes of Gary Barlow, Kate Winslet and Sarah Burton. He received his honour on the 12th of March 2013.
