I began working in the book industry in 1989, as a bookseller, and joined Curtis Brown in 2005 from John Murray at Hodder Headline/Hachette, where I was Publishing Director.
Before that, I had been Publisher of the Pan Macmillan divisions Sidgwick & Jackson, Boxtree and Channel Four Books, where I was lucky enough to be responsible for a number of bestsellers over the course of a decade. I’ve also worked in New York in both the agenting and publishing sides of the business.
While some editors know me for the broad non-fiction side of my client list – from personality-led and personality-driven projects to history and lifestyle – I'm passionate about my select fiction list, which features both literary and commercial writing but always with a strong sense of personality to it.
I'm currently shortlisted for Agent of the Year at the Bookseller British Book Industry Awards, and I am Vice President of the Association of Authors' Agents.
My profile page features clients with projects under way this year. Click on the Clients button see a full client list.
My assistant is Richard Pike.
