The Devil Inside Him
The National Theatre of Wales,
Director Ellen Bowman
'The Prossers keep a cold house and the food is as drab as the decor. Their son, the highly strung, odd-looking Huw, feels trapped by the oppressive, joyless surroundings and longs to escape to the hills. He first appears rushing into the house — dogs and children can be heard pursuing him in the background. Iwan Rheon, who created such a stir in Spring Awakening, broods mutinously as the tortured, hunched Huw, in whom John Cording’s thunderous Minister is convinced the devil resides.'
