Jacquelyn Mitchard was born in Chicago. A former daily newspaper reporter, she now writes a weekly syndicated column for Tribune Media. Her first novel, The Deep End of the Ocean, published in 1996, became the first selection of the Oprah Winfrey Book Club. Six other novels, three children's books and a young adult novel followed, including A Theory of Relativity and The Breakdown Lane. A contributing editor for Wondertime Magazine, Mitchard's essays and short stories have been widely anthologized.
She lives in Wisconsin with her husband and seven children.
