Joel Horwood burst on to the Edinburgh scene with his joyous first play, a musical entitled Mikey the Pikey, which won a Cameron Mackintosh Award. His second piece for Edinburgh, Food, about a troubled celebrity chef played by Sean Campion, won a Fringe First Award.
Joel's bittersweet depiction of East Anglian teenagers, I Caught Crabs At Walberswick, toured nationwide after premiering at the HighTide Festival and came to the Bush Theatre for a sell out run.
His ingenious adaptation of Dumas's epic novel The Count of Monte Cristo opened on the mainstage of the West Yorkshire Playhouse in May 2010
Joel is currently under commission with Eastern Angles and Northampton Royal and Derngate. He is also writing for Cowboy Films/Channel 4.
