John is a comedy director/editor and an award-winning comic writer and performer.

Having worked in a number of development and production positions in the industry, John directed and co-wrote, with Richard Glover, sketches that saw him win the BBC New Comedy Awards for Sketch Writing and Performance. This led to a successful period in a series of comedy troupes with long term collaborators, Richard Glover and Gareth Tunley.

John and Gareth went on write and perform VH1 idents, a sketch show pilot for ITV via Channel X and John worked on Comedy Central’s Short Cuts strand - Ewan and Thingy, a spoof of Ewan Mcgreggor and Charlie Boorman’s “Long Way Round/Down”. An internet hit it is still playing on Comedy Central’s TV channel. In 2010 John began making a mission documentary film With Sails and I wherein he and his friend Richard Glover attempt to sail out of the credit crunch on their own yacht – with no money, no yacht and no sailing skills. This project is ongoing.

Recently John has been writing directing and performing in Dick and Dom’s Funny Business for BBC 2 and CBBC and he has just delivered on developing, writing, directing and editing a sketch show pilot for BBC 3, For the Win which has been awarded 100k . Having just finished directing the VTs for Funny, Plus One, a BBC 3 Saturday Night Live style sketch show pilot John is about to start work on For the Win.

John has various projects in development including a scripted comedy drama version of his documentary adventure With Sails and I at the BBC.
