Henry VI, Part One
RSC,
Director Michael Boyd
Henry VI – Part One is the 5th instalment of Michael Boyd’s ambitious 8-part production of Shakespeare’s The Histories Cycle for the RSC.
It follows young king Henry as he inherits his father’s kingdom and immediately finds England at war with France, whose people, led by the famous Orleans peasant girl Joan of Arc, are revolting against English rule. As the King travels to Paris to quell the foreign rebellion, trouble brews at home between the houses of York and Lancaster.
Jonathan played the Bastard of Orleans in the production.
