Kate Fleetwood ‘Dazzles’ In Our New Girl

Kate Fleetwood in Our New Girl

January 18, 2012

Kate Fleetwood stars in Nancy Harris’s tough new play Our New Girl, which opened at The Bush Theatre on 17th January.

The play, which starts with the unsettling image of the young boy in his pajamas trying to cut his ear off, is about a mother struggling to relate to her young son.

Kate has received a number of brilliant reviews for her performance as troubled mother Hazel.

Charles Spencer of The Telegraph singles out Kate’s "fine performance" and What’s On Stage's Michael Coveney acclaims her portrayal as the injured mother as "first rate".

Henry Hitchings from The Evening Standard writes, "It's Fleetwood who dazzles, though. She is magnetic, whether conveying Hazel's tensions and monstrous temper or suggesting her lost, spectral quality."

Our New Girl plays at The Bush Theatre until the 18th February 2012.
