Maggie Gee awarded OBE in New Year's Honours List

Maggie Gee has been awarded an OBE in the New Year’s honours list for her services to literature.

Maggie is the acclaimed author of eleven novels, including The White Family, The Ice People, My Cleaner, My Driver and also a memoir about her life as a writer, My Animal Life. In 1983, she was chosen for Granta’s prestigious list of Best Young British Novelists.

She has judged many literary prizes including the Man Booker and has been shortlisted for the Orange Prize and the International Impac award. She is currently teaching a novel writing course at Faber Academy and is Vice President of the UK’s Royal Society of Literature.
