Born in Italy, Dr. Marcello Simonetta studied at the University of Rome La Sapienza and gained his Ph.D in Italian Literature and History at Yale University.
His book The Montefeltro Conspiracy: A Renaissance Mystery Decoded solved one of the most scandalous crimes of the Renaissance: the "Pazzi Conspiracy." The story of Simonetta's code-breaking discovery has been featured in a documentary first aired by the History Channel in 2005. Marcello also curated an exhibition on the Duke of Montefeltro at the Morgan Library and Museum, New York.
He lives in New York City with his wife, Noga Arikha.They are the co-authors of Napoleon and the Rebel (2011), published by Palgrave.
