Biography

Martin Stirling is a multi-award winning director and writer, emerging through the world of short films and commercials with works that are playful and provocative. He was featured in Creative Review magazine for his cinema brand film The Staring Man which was described as “Bold, brave and simple” and “Cinematic and courageous” by Alan Yentob.

His first short drama Flushed starred Jo Hartley (This Is England, Ill Manors), Danny Kirrane (Skins, The Inbetweeners) and Janet Montgomery (Black Swan, Entourage) and played at festivals worldwide. Harry Potter DoP Roger Pratt describes the film: “Success is when it works and Flushed did it for me on all levels”.

His latest short Future.Inc recently won the grand prize at Sci-Fi London Film Festival 48 Hour Challenge proving again his ability to work fast and create bold, original work whilst skilfully handling comedy and tragedy. Following the success of the film, he is now developing a feature film with Vertigo.

Martin is currently being mentored by Oscar-winner Suzie Templeton and is a participant on a development scheme with Shine Drama and the National Youth Theatre.

His commercial clients as a director include Honda, Fosters, Stella Artois, Colgate, Macleans, Doritos, Cornetto, Mentos, amongst others. He was longlisted for the Cannes Lions Young Director Award this year.
