Matt Lacey began writing and performing comedy sketches as a schoolboy and has not stopped since. He wrote for and appeared in numerous productions whilst at university at Oxford and after graduating joined the sketch comedy group The Unexpected Items, with whom he still performs regularly. Matt is also an accomplished actor and has appeared in a number of television and theatre productions, including Eastenders E20, two tours of Japan performing Shakespeare and as the romantic lead in a new piece of writing by Patrick Marber.
In 2010 Matt uploaded a short video to YouTube entitled Gap Yah, featuring his creation Orlando – an archetypal ex-public school gap year traveller. Over 2.5M hits later, it has gone on to win YouTube's Homegrown Comedy Hit of the Year. Orlando's world view has been immmortalized in his Gap Yah Planner (Fourth Estate, 2011).
