Don’t Panic! Dad’s Army released in UK cinemas

Feb 4, 2016

Blake Harrison, Daniel Mays, Mark Gatiss and Martin Savage star alongside a stellar cast in Universal Pictures’ Dad’s Army, the film adaptation of the classic BBC sitcom.

With a spy on the loose in Walmington-on-Sea, Captain Mainwaring and his Home Guard are ordered to capture him before he is able to spill the secrets of the Allied invasion to German forces. As bumbling and inept as ever, and with the added distraction of the alluring journalist Rose Winters, will the platoon manage to triumph over the enemy?

Blake Harrison plays Private Pike. The youngest member and ‘stupid boy’ of the platoon previously played by Ian Lavender. Blake can currently be seen in The Increasingly Poor Decisions of Todd Margaret for IFC/Sundance and in the lead role of new E4 series Tripped opposite Georgina Campbell.

Daniel Mays stars as Private Joe Walker, Walmington’s very own spiv or “wholesales supplier”. Daniel will next be seen on stage in The Caretaker at the Old Vic opposite Timothy Spall and George Mackay, and on screen as the new lead in Series 3 of Jed Mercurios’ Line of Duty on BBC Two.

Mark Gatiss is the disapproving Colonel Theakes, based at the army headquarters. Mark’s recent credits include the BBC’s Sherlock, which he co-created, the BBC’s London Spy and Three Days in the Country at the National Theatre. Previous credits include Coriolanus opposite Tom Hiddleston at the Donmar Warehouse, Wolf Hall and Game of Thrones.

Martin Savage plays the grumpy and irritating ARP Warden Hodges. He has recently finished shooting the feature film, The Kaiser's Last Kiss and has previously appeared in Extras, In The Thick of It, V for Vendetta, Rush and in Mike Leigh’s films Mr. Turner, Topsy-Turvy, and Another Year.

Dad’s Army is out in cinemas everywhere in the UK on Friday 5th February.
