Trio of films visit Edinburgh Film Festival 2009

This year's line up for the Edinburgh Film Festival 2009 has been announced, with films by
Lindy Heymann and
Leigh Campbell,
Julie Rutterford and
Kirshnendu Majumdar all selected for screening.
Director Lindy Heymann's dark thriller
Kicks stars Nichola Burley and
Kerrie Hayes as two Liverpudlian teenagers who take their devotion to football player Lee to terrifying lengths. The film was written by
Leigh Campbell.
Writer Julie Rutterford's feature
A Boy Called Dad tells the story of fourteen year old Robbie, whose life is turned upside down when he becomes a teenage father. Let down by his own dad, played by Ian Hart, he takes the baby and goes on the run, forcing his own parents to address the choices they have made throughout their lives.
Director Krishnendu Majumdar's short film
The Happiness Salesman airs as part of the UK Shorts strand. It stars Christopher Eccleston and Archie Panjabi and the script won The British Short Screenplay Competition. The team won the John Brabourne Big Five Award to fund the film.
