Harry McEntire and Emily Barber triumph at the Manchester Theatre Awards

Emily Barber and Harry McEntire both collected awards for their roles in Manchester Royal Exchange's production of Billy Liar at the Manchester Theatre Awards on Friday 13th March.

    Harry McEntire was awarded the Best Actor prize for his performance in the lead role of Billy and Emily Barber picked up the award for Best Newcomer for her role as Liz in Sam Yates’s production, which opened at the Manchester Royal Exchange last year.  

    Harry is currently filming on the forthcoming BBC2's The Last Kingdom, adapted from Bernard Cornwell’s series of Saxon novels, in which he plays series regular Aethelwold. Emily graduated from the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama and was nominated for the prestigious Spotlight prize in her final year. Whilst training Emily received rave reviews for her role as Judy in Cornelius at the Finborough Theatre, also directed by Sam Yates, which transferred to the 59e59 theatre in New York. She is about to being rehearsals for the role of Gwendolen in The Importance of Being Earnest alongside David Suchet. Directed by Adrian Noble, the play opens in Nottingham followed by a brief tour before heading to the West End’s Vaudeville Theatre.

    Katie Moore was nominated for Best Supporting Actress, also for her performance in Sam Yates' Billy Liar.
