Iwan Rheon wins Olivier Award
March 23, 2010
Iwan Rheon has won the Olivier Award for Best Supporting Performance in a Musical at this year's Olivier Awards.
Iwan's nomination reflects his performance as Moritz in
Spring Awakening, which transferred into the West End from the Lyric Hammersmith. At the time,
Nicholas de Jongh called him "infinitely poignant" in
The Evening Standard, while
Michael Coveney wrote that Iwan and his co-stars "knock any TV talent show contestants and winners of recent times into a total cocked hat."
Spring Awakening won four awards in total, including Best Actor in a Musical and Best New Musical.
Meanwhile, Mike Bartlett's
Cock - which starred
Katherine Parkinson - was named Outstanding Achievement in an Affiliate Theatre.
The winners were announced on 21st March at London's Grosvenor House Hotel.
