Jacobson and Mitchell make Man Booker Longlist 2006

Howard Jacobson and David Mitchell have been longlisted for this year's Man Booker Prize for Fiction.
Howard Jacobson has been nominated for his blackly comic novel, Kalooki Nights, which tells the story of post-war Mancunian Jew, Max Glickman; while David Mitchell has been chosen for Black Swan Green, his semi-autobiographical tale of a 13 year old boy growing up with a stutter.
The shortlist will be unveiled on 14 September 2006 and the overall winner will be announced on 10 October 2006.
