Mark Gatiss and Drew McOnie triumph at the Olivier Awards

Mark Gatiss and Drew McOnie took home the individual prizes at the Olivier Awards which was held on the 3rd April 2016 at the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden.  

Mark Gatiss won the Olivier for Best Supporting Actor for his role as Doctor Shpigelsky in Patrick Marber’s Three Days in the Country. Earlier this year Mark also won the WhatsOnStage award for the same category. 

Drew McOnie won the Olivier for Best Theatre Choreographer for his work on Lin-Manuel Miranda’s smash-hit musical In the Heights which transferred from the Southwark Playhouse to the Kings Cross Theatre. 

In the Heights also won the award for Outstanding Achievement in Music for which Tom Deering was the Music Supervisor. 

Showstoppers! which stars comedy improvisers Ruth Bratt and Lucy Trodd, won the Olivier for Best Entertainment and Family. 

The National Theatre's Ma Rainey's Black Bottom, starring O-T Fagbenle, scored Best Revival.
