Oscar nomination for Ian Barnes' Wish 143
January 25, 2011
Wish 143, directed and produced by Ian Barnes has been nominated for the Best Live Short Oscar at the 83rd Academy Awards.
The short drama is about a terminally ill fifteen-year-old boy (David) with only months to live who is granted one wish from the Dreamscape Charity. But David doesn't want to go to Disneyland or meet Gary Neville; what he really wants is an hour alone with a naked woman.
76 films originally qualified in the category and now only five nominees remain. The winners will be announced at a star-studded ceremony on February 27 at the Kodak Theatre in Los Angeles, which will be presented by Anne Hathaway and James Franco.
Each of the five Oscar nominated short films will be theatrically released in 150 screens across the US from February 11. The films will also be released individually on iTunes from February 22 throughout the world.
Best of luck to Ian Barnes, his producer Samantha Waite and screenwriter Tom Bidwell.
