The series follows on from BBC One's successful single drama which received a nomination at the RTS Awards in 2013, and centres around protagonist Molly Dawes, a soldier in the Royal Army Medical Corps, who is deployed to Afghanistan to serve as a medic along with a platoon of young men.
Arinzé Kene plays Corporal Kinders, section commander. Arinze’s previous credits include EastEnders and Ashley in E4’s Youngers. He is also a prominent writer and was named as one of Screen International’s Stars of Tomorrow in 2013.
Sean Gallagher reprises his role as Lacey Turner's father David Dawes, having starred in last years single drama version of Our Girl.
Nick Preston plays cheeky chappy Mansfield Mike, one of the younger members of the platoon. Nick is best known for his performance in the second series of the BAFTA nominated My Mad Fat Diary and is soon to start shooting on the next series of Shane Meadows’ This is England 90.
Iwan Rheon plays soldier Smurf, who is torn between his family ties and the job he loves. Iwan is currently filming the fifth series of Game of Thrones and stars in the feature film Residue which is release later this year.
