Thornton Wilder classic three-act play tells the story of a very ordinary American town through the everyday lives of its inhabitants. Cromer’s production explores and exposes the dark truth of human existence as two people, fall in love, marry and live out their lives.
Laura Elsworthy plays Emily Webb, who grows from a precocious young girl into a well-rounded wife to George Gibbs. Laura can soon be seen in James Kent’s adaptation of Testament of Youth, which recently premiered at the BFI London Film Festival, having most recently performed in the remount of Kenneth Branagh’s Macbeth at the Armoury in New York.
David Walmsley plays the town’s star athlete George. He has just wrapped as one of the series leads in Jimmy McGovern’s new Drama Banished for BBC One, which airs later this year.
Matthew Jacobs-Morgan plays Joe Crowell Jr.
Our Town runs at the Almeida until Saturday 29th November.
