Sky reveals fresh comedies
July 25, 2011
Sky 1's Autumn line up has been announced and will feature sitcoms Gates and Trollied, comedy-drama Starlings and the return of An Idiot Abroad.
Directed by Sam Cadman, Gates, is a new sitcom based around a group of parents collecting their children from the school gates. Produced by Feelgood Fiction, the series will star Joanna Page, Catherine Saunders and Tom Ellis.
Comedy-drama Starlings has been co-created and written by Matt King and Steve Edge and will be directed by Matt Lipsey. Starring Brendan Coyle and Lesley Sharp the warm and witty series follows a working-class family in Matlock as they contend with new arrivals in the home, both young and old. The series is exec produced by Henry Normal and Steve Coogan of Baby Cow.
Written by Julie Rutterford, Trollied is set in a budget supermarket and the show takes a comic look at a setting we've all spent far too much time in. Starring Jane Horrocks, Mark Addy and Nick Blood, the series, produced by Roughcut Television is a slice of life populated by the characters we all see every time we go shopping.
An Idiot Abroad returns directed and produced by Krish Majumdar. The very popular show features Karl Pilkington and his travels around the world as the least interested globe-trotter. Exec-produced by Ricky Gervais and Stephen Merchant the show will return later in 2011.
