Swallows and Amazons opens in Bristol

Rosalie Craig and Stuart McLoughlin star as Sensible Susan and Earnest John in Tom Morris’s production of Swallows and Amazons which opened at the Bristol Old Vic this week to glowing reviews.
Adapted by Helen Edmundson from Arthur Ransome’s popular books, with music from The Divine Comedy frontman Neil Hannon, Swallows and Amazons follows the imaginary adventures of the Walkers and the Blacketts as they sail around the Lakelands on their summer holidays.
The production gained a four-star review from Michael Billington in The Guardian who praised the “inventiveness” of the production, while Charles Spencer in The Telegraph comments on the “fresh, engaging performances” in his four-star verdict.
Swallows and Amazons runs at the Bristol Old Vic Theatre until January 15th 2011.
