Toronto Film Fest 2008 Highlights

A Film With Me In It

September 10, 2008

The lineup for this year's Toronto Film Festival 2008 included work by writer Peter Harness, director Ian Fitzgibbon and actors Dev Patel and Bill Milner.

Produced by Heyday Films, Peter Harness's first feature film Is Anybody There? is the story of a little boy growing up in an old people's home. John Crowley directs an all star cast including Bill Milner, Sir Michael Caine, Anne-Marie Duff and David Morrissey. Screen Daily writes, “An original screenplay by Peter Harness deftly balances heartache and whimsy, charm and warmth….funny and endearing."

Ian Fitzgibbon's hilarious farce A Film With Me In It premiered at this year's Edinburgh Film Festival to excellent reviews and stars Dylan Moran and Mark Doherty as two luckless screenwriters struggling to get their film made. "Clever and very funny....Director Fitzgibbon hits all the right notes with comic finesse as this film heads towards its pleasingly delirious conclusion" Hollywood Reporter

Dev Patel takes to the big screen to play Jamal, a young orphan from the streets of Mumbai who ends up playing for a fortune on the Indian version of the TV quiz Who Wants to be a Millionaire? Slumdog Millionaire will be coming to Britain as the closing night film at this year’s London Film Festival.
